Scott Glenn

Scott Glenn (also credited as Scott Glen) is an American screen actor born on January 26, 1939, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Over a career spanning decades, he has built a reputation for grounded, quietly intense performances that bring authority and moral complexity to both leading and supporting roles.

Glenn emerged as a distinctive presence in 1970s and 1980s American cinema, appearing in acclaimed films such as Nashville and Urban Cowboy, and portraying astronaut Alan Shepard in The Right Stuff. His film work continued to range widely, from ensemble Westerns like Silverado to high-stakes thrillers including The Hunt for Red October.

Among his best-known parts is FBI chief Jack Crawford in The Silence of the Lambs, alongside notable turns in Apocalypse Now as Lieutenant Richard M. Colby, Absolute Power as Bill Burton, and Training Day as Roger. He has also appeared in titles such as The Virgin Suicides, Carla's Song, Freedom Writers, and W. as Donald Rumsfeld.

On television, Glenn gained renewed acclaim for his emotionally layered work as Kevin Garvey Sr. in HBO’s The Leftovers, and reached new audiences as Stick in Marvel’s Daredevil and The Defenders. Whether in prestige drama or mainstream franchise storytelling, he remains a reliable, character-driven force.
