Aaron Nee

Aaron Nee is an American screen artist best known for directing and for his visually polished approach to independent filmmaking. The older of the Nee brothers, he studied at the University of Central Florida, building a foundation that would inform his work behind the camera and in post-production.

Early in his career, Nee drew attention for his cinematography on the brothers’ debut feature, which critics have praised as standout digital-video imagery within the indie scene. That eye for composition and texture has remained a calling card across his projects, helping him move fluidly between directing and camera-driven storytelling.

In addition to narrative work, Nee has explored nonfiction filmmaking. A documentary he made tracking formerly incarcerated people as they reentered society—focused on rehabilitation and personal change—was released in late 2008, underscoring his interest in character, consequence, and transformation.

Beyond film sets, Nee works in motion graphics and visual effects through his company, G.R.O.W. LLC. He is also associated with the feature South of Heaven, credited as Dale Coop.
