Akio Otsuka

Akio Otsuka (also credited as Akio Otuka, Akio Ootsuka, and Akio Ohtsuka) is a Tokyo-born Japanese actor best known for his commanding voice work across anime and feature films. Born on November 24, 1959, he has built a long-running career defined by gravitas, wit, and an unmistakably deep tone.

Affiliated with Mausu Promotion, Otsuka comes from a celebrated voice-acting lineage as the son of renowned performer Chikao Otsuka. That heritage, paired with his own range, has helped him become a go-to presence for complex characters—often tough, world-weary, or quietly emotional.

His notable credits include Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence as Batou, Paprika as Toshimi Konakawa, and Berserk: The Golden Age Arc III - The Advent. He has also left a strong mark on the Lupin the Third franchise with roles in Napoleon's Dictionary, From Siberia with Love, and Alcatraz Connection, alongside appearances in titles like Yo-kai Watch Shadowside: The Return of the Oni King.

In his personal life, Otsuka married voice actress Yoko Soumi in 2005; the couple later divorced in 2009.
