Akiva Goldsman
Akiva Goldsman (born July 7, 1962, in New York City) is an American filmmaker best known for his work as a screenwriter and story architect across major studio franchises and prestige drama. His career spans blockbuster adaptations, character-driven dramas, and high-concept science fiction, often balancing emotional stakes with large-scale spectacle.
Goldsman’s writing credits include The Client, Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, as well as science-fiction hits like I, Robot and I Am Legend. He has also built a reputation in Hollywood for extensive script rewrites—some officially credited, others not. On television, he wrote more than a dozen episodes of the cult-favorite series Fringe.
His most celebrated achievement came with Ron Howard’s A Beautiful Mind, earning Goldsman the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay and a Golden Globe for Best Screenplay. He later reunited with Howard to adapt Dan Brown’s bestsellers The Da Vinci Code and its follow-up Angels & Demons.
In recent years, Goldsman has helped shape modern franchise TV, co-developing DC’s Titans and expanding the Star Trek universe with Star Trek: Picard and co-creating Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. He has also appeared on screen in documentaries and related projects as himself.
