Algee Smith

Algee Smith (also credited as Alga Smith) is an American screen artist and singer born on November 7, 1994, in Saginaw, Michigan. After building experience through smaller television appearances, he steadily emerged as a distinctive young performer with both musical and dramatic range.

His breakout arrived when he portrayed Ralph Tresvant in BET’s acclaimed miniseries The New Edition Story, a role that introduced him to a wider audience. That momentum carried into film the same year with Kathryn Bigelow’s Detroit, where Smith earned strong praise for his portrayal of Larry Reed.

Smith has continued to expand his filmography across genres, with notable credits including Earth to Echo (Marcus Simms), The Hate U Give (Khalil Harris), Judas and the Black Messiah (Jake Winters), and Shooting Stars (Illya McGee). Earlier roles such as Let It Shine and Barely Lethal helped establish his versatility.

On television, he is also recognized for his work on HBO’s Euphoria, further cementing his reputation as a compelling actor capable of balancing intensity, vulnerability, and charisma.
