Amandla Stenberg

Amandla Stenberg (born October 23, 1998, in Los Angeles, California) is an American actor who first broke through as a standout child performer. Widely recognized for playing Rue in The Hunger Games, Stenberg quickly became a memorable presence in a major studio franchise and later appeared as themself in the behind-the-scenes documentary The World Is Watching: Making the Hunger Games.

As their career matured, Stenberg expanded into television and contemporary film, taking on roles that highlighted both range and emotional precision. They appeared in the supernatural series Sleepy Hollow and earned strong notice for leading roles in projects such as Everything, Everything and the acclaimed drama The Hate U Give, where their performance drew particular praise.

They have also built a notable voice-acting résumé, including Margo Kess / Spider-Byte in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and the upcoming Beyond the Spider-Verse.

Beyond acting, Stenberg has pursued music—debuting with the folk-rock duo Honeywater and contributing a song to Everything, Everything—and is known for advocacy supporting LGBTQ youth. They were also named to Time’s lists of the most influential teens in 2015 and 2016.
