Andrea Bocelli

Andrea Bocelli (born September 22, 1958, in Lajatico, Tuscany) is an Italian screen artist and world-famous tenor whose on-camera appearances often bridge popular entertainment and classical music. Raised on his family’s farm near Pisa, he pursued the arts early, studying instruments such as piano and flute, while also completing a law degree at the University of Pisa.

Bocelli was born with serious visual impairment and later lost his sight completely after a childhood accident. Determined to perform, he trained as a singer under legendary tenor Franco Corelli, financing lessons by singing in bars and clubs. His breakthrough arrived in the early 1990s when Zucchero selected him to record a demo of “Miserere,” a track linked to Bono and ultimately championed by Luciano Pavarotti—opening doors to major stages and collaborations.

From Sanremo success to opera roles like La Bohème, Bocelli became one of the best-known voices of his generation, selling tens of millions of records worldwide. On screen, he is widely recognized for self-portrayals in music specials and TV events, including The Journey: A Music Special from Andrea Bocelli, Andrea Bocelli: A Bocelli Family Christmas, and Andrea Bocelli – Une nuit en Toscane.
