Andrew Scott

Andrew Scott (born October 21, 1976, in Dublin, Ireland) is an Irish screen and stage actor celebrated for his range, intensity, and precision. Across film, television, and theatre, he has built a reputation as a performer equally at home in intimate dramas and high-profile genre work.

He first broke through internationally as the brilliant, unpredictable James Moriarty in the BBC’s Sherlock, a performance that earned him a BAFTA TV Award. Wider mainstream attention followed with his scene-stealing turn as the “Hot Priest” in Fleabag, adding major critics’ prizes to a growing list of honors and nominations. His film work includes standout appearances in Pride, Spectre, and 1917, while his acclaimed lead in All of Us Strangers brought further awards recognition.

In 2024, Scott took on another defining role as Tom Ripley in the thriller series Ripley, drawing major award nominations and reinforcing his status as one of the most compelling actors of his generation. On stage, he is also an Olivier Award winner, recognized for both leading and affiliate-theatre performances.

Among his notable screen credits are Back in Action (Baron), Nora (Michael Bodkin), Anton Chekhov’s The Duel (Laevsky), Dead Bodies (Tommy McGann), Longitude (John Campbell), and Sea Wall (Alex).
