Andrew Stanton
Andrew Stanton (also credited as Andrew A. Stanton) is an American screenwriter, director, producer, and occasional voice performer, born on December 3, 1965, in Boston, Massachusetts. Long associated with Pixar Animation Studios, he has helped shape the studio’s storytelling style through character-driven, emotionally grounded animation.
Stanton is best known for his work on two modern animation landmarks: Finding Nemo and WALL-E, which he co-wrote and directed. Both films went on to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, cementing his reputation as a filmmaker who can blend big ideas with accessible humor and heart.
Beyond headline features, Stanton’s presence is felt across Pixar’s broader creative ecosystem. He has appeared in numerous behind-the-scenes and documentary projects, including Making 'Nemo', A Visit to the Pixar Living Archive, and Waking Sleeping Beauty (archive footage), offering audiences a window into the craft and culture of modern animation.
He has also contributed as a performer, notably voicing the laid-back sea turtle Crush in Finding Nemo. Whether writing, directing, or reflecting on the process, Stanton remains a key figure in contemporary animated filmmaking.
