Andy Samberg

Andy Samberg (also credited as Andrew Samberg and Andrew David Samberg) is an American actor, comedian, writer, producer, and musician, born August 18, 1978, in Mill Valley, California. He first broke through as part of The Lonely Island, the comedy-music trio whose viral sensibility helped reshape mainstream sketch comedy in the 2000s.

From 2005 to 2012, Samberg was a standout cast member on Saturday Night Live, where he and his collaborators helped turn the show’s Digital Shorts into must-watch pop-culture events. That blend of performance, music, and sharp comedic timing became his signature across film and television.

On screen, he’s known for leading roles like Rod Kimble in Hot Rod and for scene-stealing turns in films such as I Love You, Man and Friends with Benefits. He’s also a prolific voice actor, with credits including Space Chimps, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse as Ben Reilly.

Samberg’s most celebrated TV role came as detective Jake Peralta on Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2013–2021), a series he also produced. His work on the show earned him a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy TV Series, cementing his status as a modern comedy mainstay.
