Andy Weir
Andy Weir (also credited as Andrew Taylor Weir) is an American novelist born on June 16, 1972, in Davis, California. Known for science-forward storytelling that blends humor with rigorous problem-solving, Weir has become a prominent modern voice in space and tech-driven fiction.
He broke into the mainstream with his 2011 novel The Martian, a survival tale set on Mars that later became the hit 2015 film directed by Ridley Scott. The success of the adaptation helped cement Weir’s reputation for crafting cinematic, high-concept narratives grounded in real-world science.
Weir’s accolades include the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer (2016). His 2021 novel Project Hail Mary continued his momentum, earning recognition as a finalist for the 2022 Hugo Award for Best Novel.
