Anne Hathaway
Anne Hathaway (born November 12, 1982, in Brooklyn, New York) is an American screen actor known for moving effortlessly between crowd-pleasing comedies, prestige dramas, and blockbuster franchises. Over her career she has earned major industry honors, including an Academy Award, Golden Globe, BAFTA, and SAG Award for her portrayal of Fantine in Les Misérables (2012), as well as an Emmy for voice work on The Simpsons. In 2024, she was named to Time’s 100 most influential people.
Hathaway first gained attention on the TV series Get Real (1999) before becoming a global star with Disney’s The Princess Diaries and its sequel, playing Mia Thermopolis. She soon broadened her range with more adult material, earning acclaim for films like Brokeback Mountain (as Lureen Newsome) and later Rachel Getting Married, which brought her an early Oscar nomination.
Her filmography spans romantic comedies such as Valentine’s Day (as Liz Curran), period drama Becoming Jane (as Jane Austen), animation (Hoodwinked!), and fantasy spectacle in Alice in Wonderland (as the White Queen). Off-screen, she is also recognized for advocacy work, including serving as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador focused on gender equality.
