Anthony Russo
Anthony Russo (born February 3, 1970, in Cleveland, Ohio) is an American director and filmmaker best known as one half of The Russo Brothers, alongside his brother Joe Russo. Working primarily as a team, Russo has become a defining voice in modern blockbuster storytelling, balancing character-driven drama with large-scale spectacle.
Russo’s global profile surged through the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where the brothers directed four landmark entries: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Endgame became a cultural event and, for a time, the highest-grossing film ever worldwide, cementing Russo’s status among Hollywood’s most influential hitmakers.
Before their MCU run, Russo built strong television credentials as a director and producer on acclaimed comedies including Arrested Development, Community, and Happy Endings, earning a Primetime Emmy Award for Arrested Development. His on-screen appearances include projects like Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe and Marvel Studios Assembled, reflecting his ongoing presence in pop culture and behind-the-scenes filmmaking.
