Ben Dickey
Ben Dickey (also credited as Benjamin Dickey) is an American screen artist known for acting, as well as a musician whose background in live performance informs his on-screen work. Born June 1, 1977, in Little Rock, Arkansas, he has built a career that bridges indie film, television, and music-driven storytelling.
Before gaining wider recognition as an actor, Dickey was active in several bands, including Shake Ray Turbine, Amen Booze Rooster, and Blood Feathers. He later stepped out on his own with the 2016 folk-leaning solo album Sexy Birds & Salt Water Classics, underscoring a long-running commitment to songwriting and roots music.
His breakout screen moment arrived in 2018 with his acclaimed portrayal of Texas troubadour Blaze Foley in Blaze, a performance that spotlighted his ability to inhabit real-life musicians with authenticity. Other notable credits include The Kid (as Jim East), The Hottest State, In Starland, and Heartland, along with voice work in projects like Adrift | A Star Citizen Machinima and The Last Movie Stars.
More recently, Dickey expanded his TV presence with a role as Red in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, continuing a filmography shaped by character-driven performances and a musician’s instinct for rhythm and detail.
