Ben Whishaw
Ben Whishaw (also credited as Benjamin John Whishaw) is an English screen and stage actor born on October 14, 1980, in Clifton, Bedfordshire. Celebrated for his intelligence and emotional precision on camera, Whishaw has built a career that moves effortlessly between prestige television, auteur cinema, and major franchises—earning top industry recognition including multiple BAFTA TV wins, Emmy Awards, and a Golden Globe.
He emerged in the 2000s with acclaimed theatre work, then quickly became a standout on British TV in projects such as Nathan Barley and Criminal Justice. On film, his early range was evident in roles like Jean-Baptiste Grenouille in Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, Arthur in I’m Not There, and Sebastian Flyte in Brideshead Revisited, alongside a luminous turn as poet John Keats in Bright Star.
Whishaw reached global audiences as Q in the James Bond series, beginning with Skyfall and continuing through Spectre and No Time to Die. He also became the voice of Paddington Bear, anchoring the beloved Paddington films with warmth and wit.
On television, he has continued to take bold leading and supporting parts, including London Spy, his award-winning performance in A Very English Scandal, and later work in Fargo and This Is Going to Hurt. Recent credits include Passages and the Netflix thriller Black Doves.
