Benedict Wong

Benedict Wong (born July 3, 1971, in Eccles, Salford, Greater Manchester) is an English screen and stage actor celebrated for his range across independent cinema, television comedy, and blockbuster franchises. Also credited internationally as 黄凯旋 and 本尼迪克特·黄, he built his craft in theatre before breaking through on screen in the early 2000s.

Wong drew major attention with the acclaimed drama Dirty Pretty Things (as Guo Yi), a performance that brought awards recognition and helped establish him as a standout character actor. Around the same period, he became a familiar face on British TV via the BBC sitcom 15 Storeys High, then expanded his film work with projects such as Sunshine (as Trey), Moon, and other UK features.

In the 2010s, his profile rose globally through roles like Kublai Khan in Netflix’s Marco Polo and Bruce Ng in The Martian. He later became widely known as Wong in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, beginning with Doctor Strange, while continuing to take on distinctive parts in films and series.

Recent highlights include an Independent Spirit Award–nominated turn in Nine Days, a leading role in Netflix’s 3 Body Problem, and new work such as Bad Genius (as Meng Kang). His voice performance in The Magician’s Elephant further underscores his versatility.
