Benji Samit

Benji Samit is an American screenwriter and producer from Los Angeles, California, recognized for shaping contemporary studio comedy and character-driven genre storytelling. Working closely with longtime writing partner Dan Hernandez, Samit has built a reputation for sharp humor, warm emotion, and accessible pop-culture sensibilities.

Samit is best known for co-writing the feature film Pokémon Detective Pikachu, collaborating with Hernandez alongside other credited writers including Rob Letterman, Derek Connolly, and Nicole Perlman. The film helped translate a global gaming phenomenon into a mainstream live-action franchise, highlighting Samit’s knack for balancing world-building with comedy.

On television, Samit and Hernandez have contributed scripts to series such as One Day at a Time, The Tick, Super Fun Night, and 1600 Penn. Their work earned industry attention when they were included in Paste magazine’s roundup of top comedy writers in 2018.

In 2019, the duo signed a long-term deal with 20th Century Fox Television to develop, write, and produce both live-action and animated series. Samit also has an on-screen credit in Con Man as an uncredited comic book store patron.
