Brie Larson
Brie Larson (born October 1, 1989, in Sacramento, California) is an American screen artist known for moving effortlessly from teen comedies to acclaimed independent dramas and major studio franchises. Performing under her professional name, she has earned top industry recognition, including an Academy Award and Golden Globe, and was listed among Time’s 100 most influential people in 2019.
Larson showed unusual promise early on, becoming the youngest student accepted into the American Conservatory Theater’s training program. She began working on camera in the late 1990s and soon became a familiar face on television, including a regular role on Raising Dad. Alongside acting, she briefly explored music, releasing the album Finally Out of P.E. in 2005.
Her film résumé spans crowd-pleasing comedy and sharper character work, with notable appearances in Hoot (as Beatrice “The Bear” Leep) and 21 Jump Street (as Molly Tracey), plus titles such as Remember the Daze, Sleepover, Tanner Hall, Rampart, The Trouble with Bliss, and House Broken. A breakthrough in indie cinema led to her Oscar-winning performance in Room, followed by blockbuster visibility as Captain Marvel.
Beyond acting, Larson has expanded into directing and producing, including her feature directorial debut Unicorn Store. She is also known for advocacy work centered on gender equality and support for survivors of sexual assault.
