Carey Mulligan
Carey Mulligan (also credited as Carey Hannah Mulligan) is an English screen and stage actor born on May 28, 1985, in Westminster, London. Celebrated for emotionally precise performances, she has earned major industry recognition, including a BAFTA win, multiple Oscar and Golden Globe nominations, and a Tony nomination. In 2025, she was appointed a CBE for services to drama.
Mulligan’s film breakthrough began with her early role as Kitty Bennet in Pride & Prejudice (2005), alongside standout TV work in projects such as Bleak House and Northanger Abbey. Her career-defining turn arrived with An Education (2009), where her portrayal of Jenny Mellor brought a BAFTA for Leading Actress and an Academy Award nomination.
She has since balanced prestige cinema with wide-reaching hits, appearing in films like Public Enemies, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, and the blockbuster The Great Gatsby. Later acclaim followed for Promising Young Woman and Maestro, both of which earned her additional Oscar nominations.
Beyond acting, Mulligan supports humanitarian and health causes, serving as an ambassador for the Alzheimer’s Society and War Child. She is married to musician Marcus Mumford and they have three children.
