Catherine Winder
Catherine Winder (born October 24, 1979, in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian production executive and entrepreneur known for steering major animated and franchise-driven projects across film, television, and interactive media. Based in Vancouver with an international footprint, she is the CEO and executive producer of Wind Sun Sky Entertainment, a creator-led studio focused on building global IP, and also serves as CEO/partner of Skybound North Entertainment in collaboration with Skybound.
Across studios in Vancouver and Los Angeles, Winder has developed and produced a wide slate spanning linear series, interactive experiences, kids’ apps, and game platforms. Her work includes helping translate popular properties into screen storytelling, from expanding comic-book worlds to adapting game brands for broad audiences.
Her credits include bringing Invincible to animation for Amazon Prime and producing the blockbuster The Angry Birds Movie (and executive producing its sequel). Earlier, she produced Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and held senior leadership roles at Fox Feature Animation, HBO Original Programming, Hanna-Barbera/Turner, and Disney Animation Japan—contributing to projects such as Ice Age, Aeon Flux, Spawn, and Spicy City.
Winder is a member of both the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Television Academy, and co-authored the widely used industry reference book Producing Animation (3rd edition, 2020). Notable on-screen appearances include voicing “Billy the Sign” in The Angry Birds Movie and appearing as herself in 11e edition de La Nuit de la Deprime aux Folies Bergère.
