Charles Newirth

Charles Newirth (also credited as Charles J. Newirth) is an American producer born on August 22, 1955, in Scarsdale, New York. With a BA in Photography and Cinema from Ohio State University, he built a career defined by hands-on production expertise and a steady rise through the studio system.

Newirth entered Hollywood as a location manager on major 1980s hits including Flashdance, Pretty in Pink, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. He soon advanced to production manager on films such as Throw Momma from the Train and RoboCop, before earning his first producing credit as an associate producer on The Package.

In the 1990s, he co-produced Robert Zemeckis’ Oscar-winning phenomenon Forrest Gump and collaborated on Barry Levinson projects including Bugsy and Toys. His producing and executive producing work also spans Patch Adams, Galaxy Quest, and later studio titles like Hugo and City of Angels.

After joining Revolution Studios in 2000, Newirth oversaw physical production across dozens of releases before returning to independent work. More recently, he executive produced Marvel Studios blockbusters including Iron Man 3, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and has appeared as himself in behind-the-scenes documentaries such as RoboDoc and Never Surrender.
