Charlie Day
Charlie Day (also credited as Charles Peckham Day) is an American screen actor, writer, and producer born on February 9, 1976, in New York City. He rose to wide recognition for his offbeat, fearless comedy style and his knack for turning chaos into character-driven laughs.
Day’s signature role is Charlie Kelly on FX/FXX’s long-running dark comedy It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, where he also serves behind the camera as a writer and executive producer. His work on the series earned major attention, including award nominations, and helped cement him as a defining voice in modern TV comedy.
On the big screen, Day has balanced broad comedy with genre spectacle, memorably playing Dr. Newton Geiszler in Pacific Rim and Dale Arbus in Horrible Bosses. He has also built a strong résumé in animation, voicing Art in Monsters University and Luigi in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, bringing warmth and nervous energy to fan-favorite characters.
Expanding his creative footprint, Day co-created Apple TV+’s workplace comedy Mythic Quest and later stepped into directing with Fool’s Paradise. Across television, film, and voice work, he remains a versatile performer known for sharp timing and surprising sincerity.
