Ciarán Hinds

Ciarán Hinds (born February 9, 1953, in Belfast, Northern Ireland) is an Irish screen and stage actor celebrated for his commanding presence and resonant, unmistakable voice. Moving fluidly between intimate drama and large-scale spectacle, he has built a career defined by range, precision, and quiet intensity.

On film, Hinds has delivered standout work across decades, including Road to Perdition (as Finn McGovern), The Sum of All Fears (as President Nemerov), Munich (as Carl), and roles in Veronica Guerin, The Nativity Story, Hallam Foe, and Miami Vice. His performance in Belfast brought major awards attention, earning Oscar and BAFTA nominations for Best Supporting Actor.

He is equally recognizable for high-profile television turns—Julius Caesar in Rome, Mance Rayder in Game of Thrones, and Sir John Franklin in The Terror—as well as for voice work, notably Grand Pabbie in Disney’s Frozen films. Hinds also appeared in modern franchise fare, including Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
