Dan Stevens

Dan Stevens (also credited as Daniel Jonathan Stevens) is an English screen actor born on October 10, 1982, in Croydon, London. He broke through to global audiences as Matthew Crawley on ITV’s period phenomenon Downton Abbey (2010–2012), a role that helped establish him as a leading man with modern range and classic poise.

Stevens quickly widened his profile across genres, moving from tense thrillers like The Guest to mainstream adventure as Sir Lancelot in Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb. He became a pop-culture fixture as Disney’s Beast/Prince in Beauty and the Beast, while also taking on acclaimed dramatic work in films such as Marshall and portraying Charles Dickens in The Man Who Invented Christmas.

On television, he headlined FX’s bold superhero series Legion as David Haller, showcasing an intense, shape-shifting performance style. His later work includes the Netflix horror Apostle and voice roles, including Admiral Hornagold in The Sea Beast and Korvo in Solar Opposites.

Recent credits underline his versatility, from Abigail to blockbuster spectacle as Trapper in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, alongside notable turns in The Fifth Estate, Summer in February, and A Walk Among the Tombstones.
