Dave Filoni

Dave Filoni (born June 7, 1974, in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania) is an American writer, director, and producer who has become one of the most influential creative voices in modern Star Wars. Now serving as Lucasfilm’s chief creative officer, Filoni is widely associated with character-driven storytelling that bridges animation and live action.

He first gained major industry attention directing episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender, before George Lucas brought him aboard to help shape Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Filoni went on to guide the series’ direction and write and direct numerous installments, then expanded the saga by creating Star Wars Rebels and steering it as a key creative lead.

In recent years, Filoni has helped define the franchise’s streaming era. He created and wrote the live-action miniseries Ahsoka, and serves as an executive producer on projects including The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. He also created and executive produced animated titles such as Star Wars Resistance, The Bad Batch, and Tales of the Jedi.

Beyond writing, Filoni occasionally appears on screen and in voice roles—fans may spot him as Trapper Wolf/Embo, or hear him as the droid “Chopper” (C1-10P) across multiple Star Wars productions.
