David Brooks
David Brooks (also credited as David Worthen Brooks) is an American producer and filmmaker born on August 1, 1969, in New York City. He is the founder of the production company WorthenBrooks, and has become known for helping shape how premium storytelling travels across both streaming and traditional television.
Brooks previously founded and led 20th Digital Studio (formerly Fox Digital Studio), a content division within Walt Disney Television. Under his leadership, the studio developed and distributed work across major platforms including Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, and iTunes, while also producing for linear outlets such as FOX, FX, Freeform, and Fox Sports. The slate spanned feature films, series, and hundreds of short-form projects, earning recognition from major festivals including Cannes, Sundance, Tribeca, and SXSW.
He also pushed branded storytelling forward by building narrative-driven collaborations with notable partners such as MARS Candy, National Geographic, and NASA. After the studio’s closure in April 2023, Brooks moved into independent producing with a first-look deal at Hulu through his newly launched WorthenBrooks banner.
Among his notable credits is The Ex, where he is credited as “Dave.”
