David Dastmalchian

David Dastmalchian (born July 21, 1975, in Pennsylvania, USA) is an American actor, writer, and producer celebrated for intense, offbeat character work that leaves a lasting imprint. He first drew wide attention in The Dark Knight as Joker’s unnerving accomplice, a breakout that signaled his knack for turning brief screen time into memorable moments.

Across film and television, Dastmalchian has become a familiar face in modern genre storytelling, moving comfortably through superhero worlds and suspense-driven dramas. He’s also a frequent collaborator in Denis Villeneuve’s filmography, appearing in Prisoners, Blade Runner 2049, and Dune, where his grounded presence helps anchor high-concept narratives.

Beyond acting, he has expanded his creative footprint as a storyteller behind the camera. He wrote and starred in the semi-autobiographical feature Animals, and later produced the horror hit Late Night with the Devil, underscoring his interest in psychologically charged material.

His varied credits include titles such as Boston Strangler, Head Case, Keen, and Last Seen Wearing, reflecting a career built on range, craft, and fearless choices.
