David Krumholtz

David Krumholtz (born May 15, 1978, in Queens, New York City) is an American screen actor known for smart, scene-stealing supporting turns and warmly grounded lead work across film, television, and theatre. Over the years he has built a career defined by sharp comedic timing, emotional clarity, and an easy authenticity that fits both studio comedies and prestige dramas.

Many audiences first embraced him as Bernard in The Santa Clause franchise, before he became a fan favorite as Michael Eckman in 10 Things I Hate About You and as Seth Goldstein in the Harold & Kumar films. His film résumé also includes notable roles in titles such as Ray (as Milt Shaw), Sidewalks of New York, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Scorched, and You Stupid Man.

On television, Krumholtz reached a new level of recognition as mathematician Charlie Eppes on CBS’s Numb3rs, showcasing a charismatic blend of intellect and heart. He later appeared in acclaimed HBO projects including The Deuce and The Plot Against America, continuing to expand his dramatic range.

Krumholtz’s craft also extends to the stage: he debuted on Broadway as a teenager in Conversations with My Father and returned decades later in Tom Stoppard’s Leopoldstadt, earning award-season attention. In recent years, he drew fresh acclaim portraying physicist Isidor Isaac Rabi in Oppenheimer.
