David Tennant
David Tennant (born April 18, 1971, in Bathgate, West Lothian, Scotland) is a Scottish screen and stage actor celebrated for his range, wit, and intensity. He is internationally synonymous with Doctor Who, where he became a defining presence as the Tenth Doctor (2005–2010, 2013) and later returned as the Fourteenth Doctor in 2022.
Beyond the TARDIS, Tennant has built a varied television career, from the driven detective DI Alec Hardy in Broadchurch to the chilling villain Kilgrave in Marvel’s Jessica Jones. He also plays the charismatic demon Crowley in Good Omens and has leaned into self-referential comedy through fictionalised versions of himself in Staged.
Equally at home in theatre, Tennant’s acclaimed turn as Hamlet for the Royal Shakespeare Company in 2008 was later captured for television, underscoring his classical credentials. He is also an accomplished voice performer, including leading animation work such as voicing Scrooge McDuck in DuckTales.
His film credits include Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as Barty Crouch Jr., as well as roles in titles like The Decoy Bride and voice work in The Amazing Maurice. In 2015, he received the National Television Award for Special Recognition.
