David Weil

David Weil is an American television writer, producer, director, and showrunner from Great Neck, New York. Best known for his writing-driven approach to character and tension, Weil has become a notable creative voice in contemporary prestige TV.

He rose to wider attention as the creator of Amazon Prime Video’s Hunters (2020–2023), a series that blends historical trauma with pulpy thriller energy. He followed that with the Amazon anthology miniseries Solos (2021), and later co-created Apple TV+’s Invasion (2021–present) alongside Simon Kinberg, expanding his work into large-scale, global storytelling.

Weil’s background informs much of his perspective. He is Jewish and the grandson of Holocaust survivors—personal history that has shaped his interest in memory, identity, and moral consequence on screen.

Before his showrunning breakthroughs, he also appeared as an actor in projects including Construction, Pass the Light, 5 Hour Friends, Dark Matters, and The Young and the Restless, credits that reflect an early, hands-on connection to performance and production.
