Dennis Haysbert

Dennis Haysbert (also credited as Dennis Dexter Haysbert) is an American actor born on June 2, 1954, in San Mateo, California. With a commanding presence and a steady gravitas, he has built a career spanning film, television, and narration, often anchoring stories with calm authority and emotional restraint.

Many audiences first embraced Haysbert as the unforgettable Pedro Cerrano in the Major League films, a role that showcased both comedic timing and charisma. On the big screen he has moved easily between genres, appearing in titles such as Heat (Donald Breedan), Absolute Power (Secret Service agent Tim Collin), Waiting to Exhale (Kenneth), Far from Heaven (Raymond Deagan), and The Thirteenth Floor (Det. Larry McBain). He later brought imposing intensity to Manute in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

On television, Haysbert became widely recognized as President David Palmer on 24, a landmark performance that helped define the series’ early seasons. He also led the military drama The Unit as Sergeant Major Jonas Blane and has taken on striking roles such as portraying God on Netflix’s Lucifer. Beyond acting, he has lent his voice as the narrator of A&E’s American Justice, further cementing his signature, authoritative style.
