Diarmaid Murtagh

Diarmaid Murtagh (also credited as Diarmuid Murtagh and Dairmuid Murtagh) is an Irish screen actor born on July 28, 1982, in Kingscourt, County Cavan. Known for grounded, physical performances, he has moved confidently between television drama and large-scale international features.

He first gained attention on Irish TV with an early appearance in the soap Ros na Rún (2007), before stepping into higher-profile roles. Murtagh’s breakthrough period included playing Leif in the historical series Vikings (2013) and notable film work in 2014, portraying Dimitru in Dracula Untold and Captain Harpen in George Clooney’s WWII drama The Monuments Men.

His credits reflect a range from action and thrillers to character-driven stories, including Good People (as Marshall), Renegades (as Kurt Duffy), and the crime film The Krays’ Mad Axeman (2019), where he played notorious convict Frank Mitchell. More recently, he has appeared in major productions such as Uncharted (Police Officer) and Against the Ice (Poulsen), alongside roles in Bad Boy Buck (Buck) and William Tell (Master Builder).
