Dolly de Leon
Dolly de Leon (also credited as Dolly Earnshaw de Leon) is a Filipino screen and stage actress born on April 13, 1969, in Manila, Philippines. Celebrated for fearless character work across independent cinema, theatre, and television, she has become one of the most internationally visible Filipino performers of her generation—recognized by British Vogue in 2023 among the world’s most famous stars.
After training in theatre at the University of the Philippines Diliman, de Leon built her craft onstage in productions that ranged from Shakespeare to modern classics. She entered film with the horror anthology Shake, Rattle & Roll III (1991), then spent years in smaller film and TV appearances while steadily expanding her range.
Her breakthrough arrived with the crime drama Verdict (2019), earning major awards attention. She continued to draw praise for bold roles in projects such as History of Ha (as Dahlia) and HBO collaborations including On the Job and Folklore. Her international acclaim surged with Ruben Östlund’s Triangle of Sadness (2022), bringing top critics’ awards and landmark Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations.
De Leon’s filmography also includes Cuddle Weather, Diary ng Panget, Aswang, Trophy Wife, and Anatomiya Ng Korupsiyon. Beyond acting, she co-founded Ladies Who Launch, a social services initiative supporting disadvantaged communities.
