Dolly Wells
Dolly Wells (born Dorothy Perpetua Gatacre on December 5, 1971, in Merton, London) is an English screen artist best known for her work as an actress, with a growing reputation as a writer as well. She has built a career around sharp, character-driven performances across film and television, moving comfortably between period drama, contemporary comedy, and genre projects.
Wells is widely associated with titles such as Bridget Jones's Diary (2001), the comedy series Doll & Em (2013), Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016), and the TV adaptation of Dracula (2020). Her credits also highlight her range, from the intimate drama 45 Years (as Sally) to offbeat roles like Professor Gallagher in Susie Searches.
On television, she has appeared in mystery and period storytelling, including Murder Rooms: The Dark Beginnings of Sherlock Holmes (as Elspeth Scott). Additional notable work includes Three Birthdays (Marian), Benny & Jolene (Rosamund), I Capture the Castle, and Tumult.
