Dominic Cooper
Dominic Cooper (also credited as Dominic Edward Cooper) is an English actor born on June 2, 1978, in Greenwich, London. Known for moving easily between stage, film, and television, he has built a career defined by sharp character work and a steady presence in both British dramas and major Hollywood franchises.
Cooper first gained wide attention through acclaimed theatre, including work with the Royal National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company. He originated the role of Dakin in The History Boys, a performance that travelled from the West End to Broadway before reaching the screen—cementing him as a standout of his generation.
On film, he has appeared in notable period and contemporary titles such as An Education (as Danny), The Duchess (as Charles Grey), Starter for 10 (as Spencer), and Brief Interviews with Hideous Men. Mainstream audiences also recognize him as Sky Rymand in Mamma Mia! and its sequel.
In the Marvel universe, Cooper portrayed a young Howard Stark in Captain America: The First Avenger and expanded the role on TV in Agent Carter. He later led AMC’s Preacher as Jesse Custer, further showcasing his range across genre storytelling.
