Elizabeth Meriwether
Elizabeth Meriwether (also credited as Liz Meriwether and known in Korean as 엘리자베스 메리웨더) is an American playwright, screenwriter, and television writer-producer recognized for sharp, character-driven comedy and modern romantic storytelling.
Born on October 11, 1981, Meriwether first gained attention in theater with her play Oliver Parker! (2010), showcasing a distinctive voice that blends wit with emotional candor. Her transition to film brought wider visibility, including her work as the writer of the romantic comedy No Strings Attached (2011).
She became a major name in television as the creator and guiding writer-producer behind Fox’s hit sitcom New Girl, starring Zooey Deschanel. Across her projects, Meriwether is known for balancing big laughs with heartfelt, offbeat perspectives on friendship, dating, and adulthood.
Her screen credits also include an on-screen appearance in The Squid and the Whale as a graduate student, underscoring a career closely tied to contemporary American comedy across stage, film, and TV.
