Ella Rumpf
Ella Rumpf (born February 4, 1995, in Paris, France) is a Swiss screen actress known for fearless, emotionally precise performances across European cinema and international TV. Raised in Zurich, she developed an early passion for the stage and landed a lead in a school production of Romeo and Juliet as a teenager—an experience that helped set her on a professional path.
Rumpf made her film debut in Summer Outside (2011) and soon drew attention in Simon Jaquemet’s acclaimed drama War (Krieg) (2014) as Ali, a role that earned her a Swiss Film Awards nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Her commitment to character—famously including shaving her head—became a hallmark of her work. She trained in Zurich and later at the Giles Foreman Centre for Acting in London.
International audiences widely discovered her through Julia Ducournau’s breakout horror-drama Raw (2016), where she played Alexia. She followed with standout turns as the title character in Tiger Girl (2017), as well as roles in films such as Soul of a Beast, Marguerite’s Theorem, and Northern Comfort. On television, she expanded her reach with HBO’s Tokyo Vice.
Fluent across Swiss German and French, and also working in German and English, Rumpf continues to build a versatile career defined by bold choices and festival-favorite projects.
