Eric Bana
Eric Bana (born 9 August 1968 in Melbourne, Australia) is an Australian screen artist known for moving effortlessly from comedy to heavyweight drama and global blockbusters. Also credited as Eric Banadinovich, he first built his profile in sketch comedy on TV before breaking through to wider audiences with the Australian hit The Castle.
His career shifted into high gear with the transformative crime biopic Chopper, which showcased his range and intensity. Hollywood soon followed, with standout turns in Black Hawk Down as SFC Norm “Hoot” Gibson and as Bruce Banner in Hulk. Bana continued to anchor major productions, playing Hector in Troy and leading Steven Spielberg’s tense historical thriller Munich as Avner.
Equally comfortable in voice work and character roles, he voiced Anchor in Finding Nemo and appeared in films like Funny People and Lucky You. In later years he returned to Australian storytelling with the outback mystery The Dry, while also earning acclaim on television in true-crime drama.
Beyond acting, Bana is a dedicated motor-racing enthusiast, a passion documented in Love the Beast. He has been recognized with major Australian industry honors and was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for services to drama.
