Farhana Bhula
Farhana Bhula is a UK-based screen industry executive known for her work in film production and development, and for shaping distinctive, director-led projects across the independent sector. She is the Head of Creative at Film4, where she helps steer the company’s slate and supports emerging and established filmmaking voices.
Bhula joined Film4 in 2022 as a Senior Commissioning Executive. In that role she oversaw titles including Molly Manning Walker’s How to Have Sex, Amrou Al-Kadhi’s Layla, and Andrew Haigh’s Strangers, starring Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal—projects that reflect Film4’s focus on bold storytelling and contemporary themes.
Prior to Film4, she worked at the BFI as a Senior Development and Production Executive, serving as Executive Producer on films such as Charlotte Regan’s Scrapper, Dionne Edwards’ Pretty Red Dress, Soudade Kaadan’s Nezouh, Reggie Yates’ Pirates, Aml Ameen’s Boxing Day, and debbie tucker green’s ear for an eye. Her BFI credits also include involvement with Ben Sharrock’s Limbo and Aleem Khan’s After Love.
Earlier in her career, Bhula was Head of Development at Wildgaze Films and a Development Executive at Endor Productions, building a reputation for championing original voices and guiding projects from early development through to production.
