Gary Dauberman
Gary Dauberman (also credited as Gary L. Dauberman) is an American screenwriter and director from Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, recognized for shaping modern studio horror with crisp mythology and crowd-pleasing scares.
He is most closely associated with The Conjuring Universe, scripting key entries such as Annabelle (2014), Annabelle: Creation (2017), and The Nun (2018). His work helped expand the franchise’s interconnected storytelling, blending demonic folklore with character-driven tension.
Dauberman also contributed to Stephen King adaptations, co-writing It (2017) and writing It Chapter Two (2019), both drawn from King’s novel. In 2019, he stepped behind the camera for his feature directorial debut with Annabelle Comes Home, bringing his franchise sensibilities to the director’s chair.
Beyond narrative features, he has appeared as himself in the documentary-style credit Faith & Fear: The Conjuring Universe, reflecting his central role in one of horror’s most successful cinematic brands.
