Gary Scott Thompson

Gary Scott Thompson (born October 7, 1959, in Ukiah, California) is an American screen artist best known for writing high-concept action and television drama. Often credited as G.S.T., he has built a career around propulsive storytelling that bridges studio features and network series.

Thompson’s film work includes scripts and story contributions tied to major genre titles such as The Fast and the Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious, alongside thrillers and sci-fi projects like Hollow Man and Split Second. He also wrote entries in the family-friendly police-dog franchise, including K-911 and K-9: P.I., and the suspense feature 88 Minutes.

On television, Thompson is closely associated with NBC’s comedy-drama Las Vegas, which he created and guided as showrunner, writer, and executive producer. He directed several episodes and even appeared briefly on-screen as a psychotherapy patient.

Expanding his TV footprint internationally, he later helped develop and executive produce Taxi Brooklyn, a co-production involving NBC and TF1, continuing his focus on fast-moving, character-driven entertainment.
