Giancarlo Esposito (born April 26, 1958, in Copenhagen, Denmark) is an American screen actor celebrated for his precision, intensity, and quietly commanding presence. Across decades in film and television, he has become a go-to performer for characters who project authority while hinting at deeper volatility.
He is globally recognized for portraying Gus Fring in AMC’s Breaking Bad and its prequel Better Call Saul, a career-defining role that earned major industry honors and multiple Emmy nominations. Esposito’s TV range also spans acclaimed series such as Homicide: Life on the Street, Once Upon a Time, Revolution, Dear White People, The Boys (as Stan Edgar), and The Mandalorian (as Moff Gideon), along with ongoing work on Godfather of Harlem.
