Glenn Close
Glenn Close (born March 19, 1947, in Greenwich, Connecticut) is an American screen and stage artist celebrated for her transformative range and precision. Also known as Glenda Veronica Close, she has built a career spanning more than five decades, earning major industry honors across film, television, and theatre, along with a remarkable run of Academy Award nominations. In 2019, Time recognized her as one of the world’s 100 most influential people.
On film, Close is renowned for characters that are as intelligent as they are unpredictable. Her standout roles include the razor-sharp Marquise Isabelle de Merteuil in Dangerous Liaisons, Marsha Dale in Mars Attacks!, and a scene-stealing turn as Cruella de Vil in 102 Dalmatians. She has also brought memorable performances to projects like Hamlet (as Gertrude), The House of the Spirits, Hook, and the ensemble drama Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her.
