Guy Pearce (also credited as Guy Edward Pearce) is an acclaimed actor and musician born on October 5, 1967, in Ely, Cambridgeshire, England. Raised in Australia, he became known for his precision, intensity, and range across film and television, earning major industry recognition including a Primetime Emmy Award and nominations spanning the Oscars, Golden Globes, and BAFTAs.
Pearce first gained wide attention on Australian TV as Mike Young in Neighbours (1986–1989). His international breakthrough arrived with The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, before he cemented his Hollywood status as Edmund “Ed” Exley in L.A. Confidential and as Leonard in Christopher Nolan’s mind-bending thriller Memento.
His filmography moves confidently between genres, from Ravenous and The Time Machine to studio fare like Bedtime Stories and action franchises, including his villain turn in Iron Man 3 and his portrayal of Peter Weyland in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant. He has also remained a key presence in Australian cinema and crime storytelling, notably leading the Jack Irish adaptations.
