Ice-T

Ice-T (born Tracy Lauren Marrow on February 16, 1958, in Newark, New Jersey) is an American screen artist and musician whose career bridges hip-hop, rock, and film/television. Also credited as Ice T and Tracy Morrow, he moved to Los Angeles as a teenager and later served four years in the U.S. Army before turning his focus to entertainment.

He first broke through in the 1980s as a rapper, releasing his debut album Rhyme Pays after signing with Sire Records. He went on to launch Rhyme Syndicate Records and helped form the hard-hitting metal band Body Count, a crossover move that expanded his cultural footprint. His music drew both acclaim and controversy, including debate around the song “Cop Killer,” after which he shifted labels and continued releasing records through the 1990s.

As an actor, Ice-T has built a durable on-screen presence, appearing in films like New Jack City (as Scotty Appleton), Trespass (as King James), and The Heist (as C-Note), along with projects such as Stealth Fighter and The Alternate. Since 2000, he has been widely recognized for his long-running role as NYPD Detective Odafin Tutuola on NBC’s Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
