Jameela Jamil

Jameela Jamil (also credited as Jameela Alia Jamil; known in Korean as 자밀라 자밀) is a British screen artist, presenter, and activist born on February 25, 1986, in Hampstead, London. She first built a public profile in UK entertainment, blending pop-culture savvy with on-camera confidence across television and radio.

Jamil broke through on Channel 4’s T4 strand, hosting a pop-culture series from 2009 to 2012. She later became the voice of The Official Chart on radio, and made history as BBC Radio 1’s first regular solo female presenter of the chart show, also co-hosting The Official Chart Update with Scott Mills.

After relocating to the United States in 2016, she gained global recognition as Tahani Al-Jamil on NBC’s acclaimed fantasy-comedy The Good Place, celebrated in specials like The Paley Center Salutes The Good Place. Her screen work expanded into film and voice roles, including Marry Me (as Anikah), How to Build a Girl (as Cleopatra), and narration in Love at First Sight.

Jamil has also appeared as herself in major pop-culture events and behind-the-scenes features such as Marvel Studios Assembled: The Making of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and One World: Together at Home, underscoring her presence at the intersection of entertainment, commentary, and modern fandom.
