James Weaver

James Weaver (also known as ジェームズ・ウィーバー) is a Vancouver-born screen artist and producer best known for shaping contemporary studio comedy through his leadership at Point Grey Pictures, the film and TV banner founded with longtime collaborators Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. As President, Weaver has helped steer the company’s output from cult-leaning comedies to wide-release hits.

His producing slate includes Long Shot (2019), the Jonathan Levine-directed romantic comedy starring Rogen and Charlize Theron that debuted at SXSW before Lionsgate’s release, and Good Boys (2019), a coming-of-age comedy directed by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnisky. He also backed the Oscar-nominated The Disaster Artist (2017), alongside crowd-pleasers like Blockers, the Neighbours films, Sausage Party, The Night Before, The Interview, and This Is the End, with the group collectively grossing hundreds of millions worldwide.

On television, Weaver has served as an executive producer on series such as Hulu’s Future Man, Showtime’s Black Monday, and AMC’s Preacher, expanding Point Grey’s voice beyond features. He began in the industry at United Talent Agency, where he connected with Rogen and Goldberg, later working as an associate producer on 50/50 before becoming a partner and President in 2013.

Weaver has also appeared on screen, including as himself in Oh, Hi Mark: Making a Disaster, and is credited as Sgt. John Chain in Red Riding: The Year of Our Lord 1980.
