Jason Bateman
Jason Bateman (also credited as Jason Kent Bateman) is an American screen actor born on January 14, 1969, in Rye, New York. First breaking through as a child performer on early-1980s television, he grew into one of Hollywood’s most reliable leading men, balancing sharp comedy with grounded dramatic work.
Bateman is best known for playing Michael Bluth on Arrested Development and later anchoring Netflix’s crime saga Ozark as Marty Byrde. His work has been recognized with major industry honors, including a Golden Globe and a Primetime Emmy, underscoring his range across sitcom timing and prestige drama intensity.
On the big screen, Bateman has built a deep filmography of smart studio comedies and character-driven ensemble pieces. Notable credits include Juno (as Mark Loring), Hancock (as Ray), Up in the Air (as Craig Gregory), and The Invention of Lying (as Doctor), along with roles in The Sweetest Thing, The Kingdom, and Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium.
Beyond acting, Bateman has expanded into directing, beginning unusually early in his career and later guiding episodes of Ozark—a feat that earned him an Emmy for directing. That behind-the-camera experience complements his on-screen reputation for understated, human performances.
