Jason Blum
Jason Blum (also credited as Jason Ferus Blum) is an American producer born on February 20, 1969, in Los Angeles, California. As the founder and CEO of Blumhouse Productions, he became a defining force in modern genre cinema, championing lean budgets, bold ideas, and filmmaker-driven storytelling.
Blumhouse’s model helped spark a new wave of blockbuster horror, launching and sustaining franchises such as Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Purge, and Halloween. Blum’s producing slate also stretches beyond scares into sharp thrillers and acclaimed dramas, with titles including Get Out, Split, Us, The Invisible Man, Whiplash, M3GAN, and Five Nights at Freddy’s.
His work has earned major industry recognition, including multiple Academy Award nominations for Best Picture for Whiplash, Get Out, and BlacKkKlansman. On television, he won Primetime Emmy Awards for the TV movie The Normal Heart and the documentary/nonfiction series The Jinx.
Blum also appears on camera as himself in behind-the-scenes and pop-culture projects such as Unknown Dimension: The Story of Paranormal Activity, Eli Roth’s History of Horror, and Late Night with Seth Meyers, reflecting his visibility as one of Hollywood’s most influential producers.
