Jay Roach
Jay Roach (also credited as Matthew Jay Roach) is an American director and filmmaker born on June 14, 1957, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He became a major force in modern studio comedy, known for balancing broad humor with sharp pacing and character-driven setups.
Roach first gained worldwide recognition directing the Austin Powers series, then expanded his mainstream run with hits like Meet the Parents, Dinner for Schmucks, and The Campaign. His filmography also includes acclaimed, more dramatic turns such as Trumbo and Bombshell, highlighting his range beyond comedy.
